New Interior Design Trends for 2022

We love asking our in-house interior designers to predict which design trends we can expect to see in the months ahead. In 2021, home decor was all about blending style and practicality as we all were spending more time at home than ever before. Zoom-worthy home offices and enhancing home entertainment spaces took center stage.

What’s ahead in 2022? We talked with the talented designers here at Sacksteder’s Interiors about new color palettes, as well as new furniture, wall decor and accessory trends. Here’s what they said will be big this year:

  1. Traditional Details
Traditional is making a big comeback. With so much change around the world these past few years, it’s no surprise that people are craving a sense of comfort, timelessness and even a bit of nostalgia at home.
  2. 3D Art
After spending so much time at home, people are ready to add whimsey, intrigue and life to those flat walls. Multi-dimensional art that pops right off the wall, and can be configured in different ways, is the perfect way to do just that.
  3. 1970s Decor Inspiration
Groovy! The 70’s (at least their decor and colors) are back. This means we’ll be seeing more terracotta, mustard and sage colors as well as mid-century furniture trademarks, like peg legs on cabinets and tables, teak wood tones and highly textured fabrics.
  4. Curved Furnishings
From curved corners within walls and cabinets to curved sofas, dining chairs and arched cabinets, the angular lines of home furnishing is softening.
  5. Bring the Outdoors In
“Organic” has been an emerging buzz word in design for a while now, and it’s in more demand than ever (we actually did an entire blog on organic home decor ideas last year) From lighting, seating, mirrors, desks, tables, vases, and wall decor — in burlap, coral, rattan, linen, wood, moss and florals — there are many ways to style a space the way nature intended.
  6. Pantone’s 2022 Color of the Year: Very Peri
Pantone recently named “Very Peri” as its 2022 Color of the Year. A bold blue with a violet-red undertone, you can expect to see the shade show up in everything from furniture to decor. “Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.” — Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute

Want to add Very Peri (or any color) throughout your space? We can custom create a floral centerpiece, wreath, sconce or door swags in any color palette you’d like! Call to schedule a floral design consultation or stop by the New Trenton location to meet with one of our floral designers in person. Our New Trenton location also provides a large selection of floral stems, succulents and botanicals. Bring pictures, fabric swatches, measurements and fashion ideas for your area. Our designers will consult with you about the latest home and office botanical decor trends. A member of our design team will walk you through theme concepts or any room in your home or business. They will help you select a look that is right for your space, then create a fashionable floral piece to fit your specific design needs.
