For Karen Sacksteder, owner of Sacksteder’s Interiors, the American Heart Association’s annual Heart Ball holds a special place in her heart. Each year the Heart Ball has helped support the lifesaving mission of the American Heart Association, “to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.”
On February 21, 2015 supporters will gather at the Duke Convention Center to celebrate the annual event. Throughout the evening guests will enjoy a delicious dinner, silent and live auction and an evening full of support. The live auction will feature a first of its kind auction item presented by Karen. “It’s going to be really cool and I don’t think it has been done at other events,” says Alicia Gerlinger, Heart Ball auction chair and longtime supporter. “She is going to secure vendors who will donate $2,000.00 of product or time for a home makeover. We are leaving it open ended, yet it will be a very unique auction item.”
To kick off the auction, Karen hosted a pre-planning event on November 20, 2014 for the public and committee members. Imbibe Cincinnati provided craft cocktails and Daveed,s Catering provided delicious hors d’oeures. Guests enjoyed a short presentation and an evening of shopping. Ten percent of each purchase was donated to the Heart Ball.
