Start a New Family Tradition This Easter

By Allison Kahn | Hooker Furniture Contributor

Easter means many things to me: spring, pastels, and family fun. The best place for a special Easter is in your home. As a child, the Easter Bunny would hide small candy eggs or M&M’s around the downstairs of our home. My brother, sister, and I would grab our (already loaded) Easter baskets and run around the house like maniacs hunting for our Easter treasures left behind by the bunny with a fluffy tail.

That may sound like a terrible time to parents of young children or grandparents of young grandkids, but what made it special was family tradition. We expected it every year—even as teenagers! This year, try something different. Set some new family traditions that will create memories that will last a lifetime. Hooker Furniture has all the great furniture pieces to make a home comfortable for those silly family traditions.

What’s a fun Easter brunch without a mimosa or fruity cocktail? Create a bar with mixes on the Primrose Hill kitchen island. This kitchen island is perfect as a food prep area and can double as a bar when entertaining folks.

With all the food and cocktails laid out, you will need a comfortable place for your guests to sit and enjoy their yummy food! The Harbour Pointe dining table is perfect for a spring-themed Easter Brunch. Its light finish will look perfect against a vase of bright pink tulips.

Easter is all about having fun with family and loved ones. Hosting a brunch may not be typical for your family, so try it this year and maybe it will become a new tradition! And hiding candy chocolate eggs around the house for the children is always a fun and wild tradition! Be creative because the memories that last and the family you share the traditions with are what’s most important. With that note, I leave you with a fantastic Easter brunch quiche recipe. Enjoy!

Asparagus and Ramp Quiche

10 asparagus spears, rinsed with woody ends broken off
6 ramps, rinsed and chopped
3 tablespoons butter
3 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup grated Pecorino Romano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon white pepper

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil. Blanch the asparagus for 2 minutes, and then immerse in ice water to stop cooking. Chop the spears into thirds and set aside.

In a medium skillet heat the butter over medium-high heat. Add the ramps and saute for 8 minutes, until they are tender and quite fragrant. Add the asparagus, salt, and pepper, and saute for 2 more minutes.

Meanwhile, beat the eggs and milk in a medium bowl. Add the sauteed vegetables, and stir. Add 3 tablespoons of Pecorino and stir. Place the quiche shell onto a rimmed baking sheet, gently pour the egg mixture into the shell, and sprinkle the top with the remaining cheese. Bake for 25 minutes, or just until the quiche has set up.

Thanks Allison! Can’t wait to give the quiche a try!
