Interior Design Tips from sackstdersinteriors.com

Fun and interesting comments and pictures of a total design project by our talented interior designer Beth Wess!

I (Beth) just had the pleasure of working with some very professional and amazing clients; DDS Bob Garland and his caring staff of Total Care Dental in Kettering, Ohio.

One of the most important steps that I take when I am working with a client that is considering a large project such as this is to listen to what they have to say and try to understand their needs.

In out meeting I could tell that Dr. Garland wanted his office to be warm and inviting for his clients, but at the same time modernized and on the cutting edge. After I consulted with Dr. Garland about his list of needs, wants, and budget requirements; I realized he wasn’t afraid of style and pops of color.

It wasn’t long before Dr. Garland developed this into a team project by including feedback from the employees. This was a wonderful example of the type of teamwork he maintains amongst his staff. To me this was the perfect demonstration of the real passion Dr. Garland had for this design project!

Jeff Kaltenstein with Oberer Thompson Company was a tremendous help to us as we went through every detail of the design ideas that were chosen for the rooms! Shawn Cleary was the professional mind behind assisting us with dental equipment as well as specifying the products we were required to use. Thank you so much guys!

The creative style started to fall into place with the color that we chose to contrast with the warm color scheme we were aiming to achieve throughout the office space. The color “Latte” created a warm but neutral backdrop for the beautiful pieces of artwork that were placed throughout every room.

I wanted to give the office that transitional-contemporary feel. I chose artwork from Uttermost in order to achieve the look. I felt that the frameless pops of color within the artwork would take the design ideas for the office into the direction that Dr. Bob wanted to go.

I added touches of greenery and floral arrangements throughout the space for color and texture. This helped to tie the style and colors together while maintaining simplicity which is important when you are pulling together a modern look. Softening the spaces with a few timeless botanicals helped to bring an added sense of life to every room the arrangements were placed in.

The furniture was all transitional espresso woods with black tweed fabrics. For the flooring we went transitional tweed with tans, blacks, and small flecks of red which set off the pops of color captured in the artwork. This gave the office that very fashion forward look that I wanted to convey with this style.

A gorgeous finishing touch was added with a very unique iron and bronze goodbye mirror from Uttermost. The patients and staff of Total Care Dental are sure to get years of enjoyment from this beautiful piece!

I want to take the time to thank Dr. Bob, his wonderful staff, as well as Shawn Cleary, Joe and Jeff Kaltenstein for all their support, participation, and feedback! This interior design project came with such an amazing team effort. It was a wonderful experience to watch the success of the project transpired with every step! It would be my pleasure to do business with Dr. Garland and his friendly staff at Total Care Dental in the future!

Thanks again!
